Charitable Giving Quarterly COllection

- It is the desire of Resurrection Parish to address our responsibility as a Catholic Christian Community to serve the poor of our community.
  Resurrection Parish originated as a Vatican II parish, rooted in Social Justice, and with a clear desire to help the poor, suffering and downtrodden of our community.
  Individual donations collected on 4 designated weekends each year are critical to fund this endeavor.
  The parish will only accept donations for those organizations identified as Charitable Giving Recipients.
  The Charitable Giving Committee will investigate needs, allocate funds and audit their impact in accord with the desires of the Parish Community.
  Quarterly, we send a donation to the groups that the Charitable Giving Committee has discerned to receive our help. The parish receives thank you letters from the groups regularly and it good to pass on their thanks to all of you.
  A Quarterly Second Collection is taken to support Parish Charitable Giving on these dates:
  8/8 and 8/9/2026
  11/7 and 11/8/2026
  2/13 and 2/14/2027
  5/9 and 5/10/2027
  8/7 and 8/8/2027
  11/6 and 11/7 /2027
  
  So, although we don’t have these groups come to Sunday worship to give a face to those in need, know that they truly look forward to our regular support.

Your financial support goes directly to those in need through agencies well prepared to provide the assistance needed. The parish will only accept donations for those organizations identified as Charitable Giving Recipients.

  Charitable Giving Recipients
  
  Emmanuel Dining Room:
  Helps alleviate the immediate needs of Delaware’s hungry with nutritious meals served at no cost. An average of 550 meals are served every day at their 3 locations.
  Funds supplement over 200 sandwiches parishioners make with fruit, snack, a sweet and a drink to make a complete meal.
  Family Promise:
  Prevents and ends homelessness for families with children by engaging volunteers, donors and faith community.
  Funds provide direct financial assistance to keep or place families with children in housing.
  Friendship House:
  Uniting people facing homelessness with loving, supportive communities they can call home.
  Funds provide direct financial assistance for the needs of the homeless.
  Wilmington-San Marcos Solidarity Project:
  A relationship was established nearly 20 years ago, in which delegations travel between dioceses several times each year, to nurture ongoing relationships between parishes.
  Assistance is provided in areas such as medical needs and novitiate training.

  Emmanuel Dining Room through Resurrection Parish addresses the local issue of food insecurity by providing lunch. Charitable giving funds are used to purchase wrapped portions of potato chips, individual servings of applesauce, and individually wrapped portions of cookies to accompany approximately 200 sandwiches once each month.
  
  200 substantial sized sandwiches made with love are donated by 18-22 sandwich makers from around 70 regular volunteers at Resurrection. The lunch is provided on the 3^rd Wednesday of the month and sandwiches are dropped off at Resurrection from 8-9 a.m. The food is then brought to EDR to be distributed.   Family Promise of Northern New Castle County prevents and ends homelessness for families with children. Charitable giving funds are used for one-time costs to keep families housed or quickly move them to housing. This light touch keeps families from the trauma of a shelter system and provides a small amount of help to stabilize their housing situation.
  Family Promise also operates a Hospitality Center, that shelters up to 16 local families with children at a time, and of any composition. Resurrection provides volunteers, supplies and meals for 4 weeks out of every year. To volunteer, please contact Deb Buckels (302) 239-2275.
  
  Friendship House unites people facing homelessness with loving, supporting communities they can call home. Charitable Giving funds are used directly for financial assistance to help pay utility bills, rent, and to help obtain needed medicines and food for basic survival.
  
  Programs at Friendship House include: Empowerment Centers, which help clients access social services, guidance with budgeting, and financial assistance; Transitional Housing provides temporary homes and guidance toward a better way of life; and the Clothing Bank which employs women from prison and rehab, along with life skills training designed for these women as they rebuild their lives.   Wilmington-San Marcos Solidarity Project Assistance is provided to our sister diocese, San Marcos, Guatemala. We are supporting Sor Irene Lima Garcia, a Franciscan nun and nurse, with the the convent "Hermanas Franciscanas de La Asunción” and the clinic “Cliníca Santa Maria de los Angeles" in San Pablo, San Marcos, Guatemala. Support is provided for health needs for the clinic and with prayers for the “aspirantes”, the students studying to be nuns in the convent, and for the community that benefits from the work being done.
